Hidden Gem of Madison: Fight Prime Training Center

We all know Madison is great, but what are the great parts of Madison we don’t all know? Hidden Gems of Madison is a series introducing you to the people, places and things in and around the isthmus that make this city one of the best places to live.

In the spotlight this month: Fight Prime Training Center.

Exercise. When you say that word people have varying reactions to it. Is it fun? Grueling work? A necessity? A new year’s resolution? Personally, marital arts is my favorite form of exercise.

Introducing Fight Prime Training Center—the most comprehensive martial arts gym in Madison. As a member and explorer of other martial arts facilities within Madison, I can confidently tell you that Fight Prime is top notch. Whether you are brand new to self-defense training, want to shed a few pounds or want to train competitively, Fight Prime introduces you the options and people to help you crush your goals.

Fight Prime Training Center has the widest array of martial arts training, offering: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (separate adults and kids classes), Muay Thai kickboxing, wrestling, and the city’s only fully licensed Krav Maga self-defence program. Their schedule is full of options within those classes from Monday through Sunday.

All types of people walk through Fight Prime’s doors to succeed in their own goals. I have seen someone overweight lose 50+ pounds, as well as several people place bronze, silver and gold in various competitions.

I personally trained at Fight Prime for the 2019 Thai Boxing Association Tournament in Des Moines Iowa, the largest, and most competitive Muay Thai tournament in North America. Literal blood, sweat and tears were shed for months while I trained side by side next to my teammates, who I now hold in the highest regard of respect. The competition that weekend in June was the culmination of such a high collective effort between all of us. We all bonded as warriors to compete against other kickboxers across the nation. The wins and the losses all compounded into a three-day whirlwind that I will never, ever forget.

This facility has changed my life for the better. They are accessible, reasonably priced and will challenge you to work towards your goals. It is an accommodating atmosphere welcoming to all skill levels.

Fight Prime Training Center is not a “killer gym” where the athletes are out to hurt each other… although, if you go to a Muay Thai sparring class, you might catch a head kick or two from yours truly. 😉
